Redesigning a content management and resource planning system used across enterprises, schools, and institutions — improving usability, design system flexibility, and core workflows.
RiverDoc is an Enterprise Content Management and Resource Planning application used across companies of all sizes — from large enterprises to schools and institutes. The platform covers task and assignment management, document lifecycle management, business process automation, absence tracking, access rights and security, and email integration.
At RiverDoc I worked not only on user experience, but also helped the product owner improve processes within the team. My contributions spanned the full design operation: from systematic design work to research infrastructure.
The main users of RiverDoc were people from smaller cities who, for various reasons, were reluctant to give honest feedback. In surveys and studies, they were afraid to say the app was difficult and defaulted to "everything is okay."
I started reaching the most "active" users directly rather than through forms. I explained that their feedback would improve the product — not reflect badly on them. Once personal trust was established, the walls came down: colleagues opened up, and usability testing became genuinely representative.
After establishing a usability testing process and shipping product improvements, positive feedback from users increased noticeably. Several major features shipped:
These improvements helped attract new clients and sign new contracts. I also delivered a substantial number of refinements across task management, document cards, the approval workflow, and the overall navigation structure.
